India's Internship Journey at TwentyTwo Digital

How I Landed My Internship

I’d like to say it was fate. After stumbling across TwentyTwo’s fun and engaging socials, I just knew I had to apply. Their fearless approach to setting themselves apart in digital marketing and willingness to embrace modern trends across social media, caught my attention and the rest was history.

As a fourth-year uni student studying a Bachelor of Business (Marketing) and Fine Arts (Film, Screen & New Media), I had a mountain of theory under my belt but little real-world experience. Determined to change that, I made it my mission in my final year to seek out every opportunity I could find. As soon as I wrapped up a previous internship, I dove straight into this opportunity at TwentyTwo.

What drew me to TwentyTwo in particular, was the three key marketing disciplines being covered in the internship, including SEO, Content Marketing and Paid Media. It felt like the perfect chance to expand my skill set, particularly since SEO and paid media were completely new to me. And the experience? It exceeded my expectations.

The Day in the Life of a TwentyTwo Marketing Intern

Workplace culture isn’t something I had fully appreciated until I joined TwentyTwo. From day one, I was welcomed with open arms and a very decorated desk of sticky notes welcoming me to the team. A team coffee catch-up followed, and I instantly felt at home.

TwentyTwo provided me with such a structured, organised process streamlined unlike any internship I had done before. Having a mentor like Sarah guiding me through was invaluable. The supportive, collaborative environment paired with a well-planned learning schedule allowed me to maximise every moment of my time here.

I’ll miss our ‘hot girl walks’ out in the sun, team lunches, and the perfect balance between putting my head down and getting to work and the light-hearted fun in the office. From adjustable stand-up desks to team initiatives like STEPtember, TwentyTwo balances work and well-being effortlessly. I couldn’t have asked for a more welcoming, supportive, and down-to-earth environment with some of the kindest people around.

Tips & Tricks I Learned: Steps to Becoming a Successful Marketing Girlie

  1. Stay Grounded: This is just the beginning of your journey. Everyone in the industry started somewhere, and they’ve taken time to get where they are today. Focus on growth, not perfection, and trust that progress comes with time—there’s no rush!
  1. Chase Opportunities: Opportunities won’t come knocking—you have to seek them out. Be proactive, seek out new experiences, and don’t wait for the perfect moment. Every chance is a learning opportunity, and what you put in is what you’ll get out. When life hands you lemons, make lemonade.
  1. Stay in the Loop: The world of marketing is constantly evolving. Stay curious, keep up with the latest trends, and be eager to learn. Continuous learning is your biggest asset in such a dynamic industry.
  1. Network Smartly: Building strong relationships is key to your future career. Always be professional, kind, and genuine—never burn bridges. You never know when a connection could open doors down the road!
  1. Say Yes to Everything: Be open to every learning experience. Try different roles and fields to find out what you truly enjoy and where your strengths lie. You can’t discover your niche without exploring all the possibilities, and every experience will only help you grow.

Starting your Career Journey

This internship was everything I hoped for and more. I came to TwentyTwo as a student eager to learn, and I’m leaving with practical skills, a deeper understanding of digital marketing, and a renewed sense of confidence in my abilities and my future.

If you’re a marketing student reading this and wondering if you should take the next step–do it! Apply, ask questions, get involved, and embrace every opportunity that comes your way. Who knows? Your next adventure could even be at TwentyTwo!
